Hans Dulfer, Route 75

Melkweg Amsterdam

Hans Dulfer is celebrating his life and becomes seventy-five with a

concert at the Melkweg, where many personalities will appear on stage.

Dulfer is a phenomenon: saxophonist,  father of Candy, columnist,

former Paradiso director. He won several prices

as the major jazz Wessel Ilcken Prize and the North Sea Jazz Bird Award

and received on this birthday the Andreas Penning from deputy mayor

Litjens of  Amsterdam.

Hans is a trendsetter in his funky jazz style and made a successful combination of house beats and saxophone in the early 90's, famous of his work with all kind of musician from out the world. As he is talking about his true hero Sonny Rollins, he starts telling about his first album he bought in 1956, which was for Hans Dulfer a phenomenon sound. 'I had to know more about Sonny Rollins. I was reading the cover on the LP  that Rollins was influenced by Chu Berry and Coleman Hawkins.' So off he went.... straight to the record store Concerto to get the albums and listen to Berry and Hawkins.

Now celebrating his life, his birthday, 60 years of playing tenorsaxophoon, 51 years of marriage and being a visionary in the music, influenced by many artists still, a true friend and inspirator for many musicians these days. The  celebration began with a warming up Joris Feiertag, dj and drum. The Melkweg is getting crowded and you can feel the exitement building up, waiting for mister Hans Dulfer.

But before he could play on stage, his daughter Candy and the Melkweg were bringing a super big birthday cake, to start the celebration. After this short happy intermezzo for Hans, he could start what he loves to do the most, playing Jazz with Eric Barkman, Rob v.d. Wouw, Jerome Hol & Cyril Directie and with his special guests Benjamin Herman and Saskia Laroo.

The Melkweg  was filled with Hans Dulfer fans, music, films books and radio.  After this first show, it was time Deeldeliers, ft Jules Deelder,  Bas van Lier, Boris van der Lek, Eric Kooger or you could see the The Eternal Tenor Battle with  Wouter Kiers en Ruud de Vries with special guests  Nippy Noya, Joost Kroon, Nick Vos en Robin Koerts.

Time for Candy Dulfer & Funky Stuff ft  Joseph Bowie ,Mr Defunkt himself, who was and is her inspiration. Now they are playing both on stage. It was funky swinging dance time. Waiting for Hans Dulfer to do the final show wiht his new band Crimson Flo Do.
